Ah, the Wedding Kuchen…..Brings up images of “dose Jermins down dere in Strausburg can really celebrate da wedding!” Uff da!!
Our Scandahoovian friends can cut a rug as well, but we all enjoy a wedding, the wedding dance, the “wedding liquor”, and most of all, the food. And with us Germans, we say “I love you” with food.
However, when putting on a “feed” of any kind, we Deutschlanders have been known to be a little Scotch. The usual wedding kuchen is not made in a pan, but in or on a cookie sheet, rolled out thin, and a little pass with the sugar/cinnamon, and maybe a little cream if you are well off.
This “dry as the sermon” kuchen does not live up to Karen’s standards. There is no “cheap” about it, as she makes her Wedding Kuchen with custard. It might not be as thick as the regular, but it does not lack flavor, as she has it available three ways: cinnamon/sugar, almond creme (w/sliced almonds), and “RedEye”. Now we have to admit that the RedEye lacks the punch of the liquor, but the flavor is there, so one can remember the entire affair.
These delightful crisps must be special ordered. You may order in eaches, and remember, no order is too small.
These wedding kuchens come out to approx. 8″ and are $5.00 each. The are also made from scratch.
